We survived (just)



Well, we crossed the finish line in time, surprisingly without major panic. Admittedly, our first ten hours or so was very rocky as we chased a dream that we slowly realised was unattainable with our level of experience and available time. Ultimately we were also forced to draw on open-source assets a lot, as no one in our team had experience with 3D modelling nor animation. I also had to learn our entire framework and give myself a crash course on checkpoint implementation while also learning about Unreal Engine 5’s Enhanced Input system. Needless to say, it was a lot of work, fuelled by a lot of energy drinks (still waiting to hear back about my sponsorship request to Red Bull and Monster Energy 😔) but we smashed through it!
Overall, we’re proud of what we did. I’m particularly proud of both our artists, Samira and Caanan, for their amazing work on both the main menu and end screen and also Connor, our designer/programmer who, fuelled by a mountain of Monster Energy (that I bought for him), worked on this project for 22 hours straight to mould it into what we have now. These are all incredible people who worked as hard as they could to make our game. I’m so proud of all of them and can't wait to work with them in future.
